The aim of project is to establish a co-creation ecosystem to foster development in RIS3 sector of photonics, smart materials, related technologies, and engineering systems based on scientific breakthroughs and commercialization in Latvia.
The aim of the Project “Smart Materials, Photonics, Technologies and Engineering Ecosystems” is establishing a co-creation research ecosystem to foster development in RIS3 sector of photonics, smart materials, related technologies, and engineering systems based on scientific breakthroughs and research commercialization in Latvia. In this project the top research centres from Latvia – Institute of Solid State Physics, Riga Technical University, University of Latvia, and Institute of Electronics and Computer Science, as well as other prominent national research players have united to significantly increase cross-sectorial scientific activities between Latvia’s leading research institutes by establishment of decentralized research cluster with shared facilities based on open access laboratory principles enhancing cross-sectorial research activities, administrative capacities and innovation potential. Also, open-science approach and cross-institutional support for students and researchers will be promoted. Common Research Commercialization Strategy 2030 will be created providing step-by-step guide on company establishment, administrative and financial issues. New methods, technologies and product prototypes with high commercialization potential in the field of photonics, microfluidics, smart materials, and IoT/Robotics will be created as a result of this Project within cross-sectorial research activities and applications.
