RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN BIOMEDICINE FROM GENES TO HUMAN

Yesterday, on May 14, during an open session of the University of Latvia Promotion Council for Biological Sciences, Agne Namiņa successfully defended her doctoral thesis: “Tick-borne pathogens in dogs: novel molecular strategies for their detection and characterization.” Following the defence, the author was awarded a Doctor of Science (Ph.D.) degree in Natural Sciences.

Significance and Contribution of the Study:

  • Diagnostic Innovation: Development of new molecular approaches for the detection of tick-borne pathogens.
  • Advancements in Veterinary Medicine: Improved methods that allow for faster and more accurate identification of infectious diseases in dogs.
  • Scientific Foundation: Comprehensive analysis of pathogen prevalence and genetic diversity.

The results of this study represent a significant step forward in animal health surveillance, disease prevention, and the improvement of treatment protocols.

We extend our warmest congratulations to the new doctor on this significant achievement and wish her continued success in her future scientific and professional carrier!
