11 February marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. For more than a decade, this day has highlighted the significant contributions of women and girls to the advancement of science and technology.

At the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre, we are proud of our 95 women in science, whose work, knowledge, and experience strengthen BMC and carry its name across the world.

Our researcher Dr. biol. Monta Brīvība, who is also the April ambassador of the Research Latvia Science Calendar this year, says:

“I have always been inspired by a quote from B. Bradley, which reminds us that ambition marks the path to success, but perseverance is what allows us to achieve it.”

On this day, we would like to encourage every girl and woman to let their ambition and perseverance guide them along the path of science.
