On 27 January 2026, the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre was visited by researchers from Lithuania — Jonas Juozapaitis, Goda Grigorianaitė, and Dovilė Juozapaitė, representing the sequencing company SeqVision. All three researchers are also PhD candidates at Vilnius University, working under the supervision of Professor Giedrius Sasnauskas, who serves as the Instruct-LT Coordinator.
Their primary research focus is on bacterial resistance mechanisms against bacteriophages. During the visit, shared research interests in the field of bacteriophage structural studies were identified, and potential opportunities for collaboration were discussed, including cooperation within the framework of Instruct-LV.

The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre is implementing project No. 1.1.1.5/3/24/I/006 “Development of Latvia’s research potential by strengthening the integration of the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre into European infrastructures and scientific networks”, within which the Latvian National Partnership Plan of the Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure (Instruct-ERIC) is being implemented.
