On 9 January 2026, the 3rd Conference on Structural Biology was held at Ratnieki, a property of the University of Latvia , with the support of Instruct-LV.
At the opening of the conference, Professor Kaspars Tārs presented an overview of the latest activities of the Instruct-ERIC consortium and introduced the newly established Instruct-LV research site, including its offered services, opportunities, and the obligations associated with participation.
The scientific programme continued with 11 presentations covering various topics in structural biology, including rational drug design, novel bacteriophage protein structures, applications of spider silk proteins, and surface proteins of Borrelia burgdorferi, the causative agent of Lyme disease.
At the conclusion of the conference, Professor Kristaps Jaudzems outlined the Instruct-LV roadmap and its future development plans.
Following the conference, discussions were held on opportunities for further project development, potential collaborations, and the expansion of the Instruct-LV research site to include additional organizations.

The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre is implementing project No. 1.1.1.5/3/24/I/006 “Development of Latvia’s research potential by strengthening the integration of the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre into European infrastructures and scientific networks”, within which the Latvian National Partnership Plan of the Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure (Instruct-ERIC) is being implemented.
