On 16 December 2025, the Instruct-ERIC Latvian National Research Site, Instruct-LV, launched a series of staff training sessions on the use of structural biology infrastructure at the Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis and the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre.
On 16 December, an online informational seminar was held on Instruct-LV activities and the theoretical background for the practical training sessions that took place on 18 December. During the practical session, which lasted the entire day, staff were trained to work with Grating Coupled Interferometry (GCI) instrumentation. This technology enables the determination of interaction strength between different molecules, for example between a protein and a rationally designed drug candidate.
Training courses on other Instruct-LV infrastructure instruments will continue in 2026.

The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre is implementing project No. 1.1.1.5/3/24/I/006 “Development of Latvia’s research potential by strengthening the integration of the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre into European infrastructures and scientific networks” within which the Latvian National Partnership Plan for the Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure (Instruct-ERIC) is being implemented.
