On November 27, 2025, the BMC structural biology group was visited by researchers from the Institute of Experimental Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Robin Thibert, Dr. Barbora Jindřichová, Anzhela Antonova and Dr. Tetiana Kalachova. In a joint seminar with BMC scientists, various studies related to bacteriophages were discussed. In the picture: BMC researcher Jānis Rūmnieks talks about the cryo-EM structures of two bacteriophages, for the calculation of which access to the INSTRUCT-Eric equipment at the CEITEC Institute in Brno, Czech Republic was used. Future cooperation opportunities in the field of bacteriophage research were also discussed.

The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre is implementing project No. 1.1.1.5/3/24/I/006 “Development of Latvia’s research potential by strengthening the integration of the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre into European infrastructures and scientific networks” within which the Latvian National Partnership Plan for the Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure (Instruct-ERIC) is being implemented.
