RESEARCH AND EDUCATION IN BIOMEDICINE FROM GENES TO HUMAN

The recent Genome of Europe (GoE) consortium meeting in Milan reinforced a powerful, shared motivation among all participating countries:

🔹 To represent the rich genetic diversity of modern European populations
🔹 To demand and deliver the highest standards of scientific integrity
🔹 To collectively build a reference map that will shape the future of precision medicine and public health in Europe.

This is not just a scientific endeavour — it’s an investment in equitable, data-driven healthcare for generations to come.

The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre is a partner in this important project, which was initiated in response to the rapidly growing use of genetic data in research and clinical applications, and the lack of a whole genome sequence (WGS) reference dataset for Europe.
