Jānis Leitāns will defend the doctoral thesis

In 20 June 2019 at 15:00 at the University of Latvia Science Academic Centre, Jelgava Street 1 in audience 501, at the open session of the University of Latvia Biology Sector Promotion Council JĀNIS LEITĀNS will defend the doctoral thesis “Structural investigations of carbonic anhydrases for design of specific inhibitors” to obtain a doctor degree in biology.

43rd Scientific Research Conference of Latvian Students

On the 12th and 13th of April this year, the Riga Technical University (RTU) hosted the 43rd Scientific Research Conference of Latvian Students, with 387 of the best works developed by 458 pupils. Four of the projects were developed at the Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre. During the conference, they received high ratings - II and III

Scientists of Latvian Biomedical Research and Studies Centre join presidential visit to Hamburg

 

 

On 21-25 February 2019, President of Latvia Raimonds Vejonis visited Germany to promote cooperation between Latvia and Germany in the field of business and science. The purpose of the visit was to present the opportunities offered by Latvia in the fields of smart cities, smart materials, biomedical and robotics, for which German businessmen and scientists expressed great interest and willingness to develop further cooperation. Scientists, Dr. biol. Kaspars Tārs and MSc. biol. Gints Kalniņš, from the Latvian Biomedical Studies and Research Centre also participated in this visit.

Genome centre approbated new method for microbial sample processing, that receives highest evaluation of quality assurance proficiency testing

Genome centre has approbated new method for microbial DNA isolation from stool samples. This method has received highest possible evaluation in quality assessment scheme (Biospecimen Proficiency Testing) 2018/2019 year cycle, the protocol is used for processing of research specific samples for Genome Database of Latvian population. This testifies the potential for further development of microbial research potential in Latvia.
